| Comments: | | This was my first foray into the Pill. After about 5 months I realized I just never got "horny" anymore and rarely even thought about having sex, much to my boyfriend's dismay. But my skin did look much better so I continued on. But once the relationship ended (not caused by my low desire, btw) I decided to go off of it and get a cervical cap. My sex drive returned but so did my bad skin. I am now (8 years later) giving it another go with Apri, solely for my skin b/c I really like my cervical cap, which unfortunately they stopped making. |

| Side effects: | | Not many - some mild bloating about a week before period, some moodiness. I don't think this prescription is the best for any type of PMS symptoms, but since I don't really suffer from this, it was not a problem for me. |
| Comments: | | One pill taken at around the same time daily. The packaging is easy to follow - it has different stickers so that you can start the pcak on any day, not just Sunday. This pill is pretty expensive, around $$50 per month. I think some of the generics are much cheaper. |

| Benefits: | | Well i started having acne by the age of 18, but it wasnt like normal acne,big and red, it would only stay on the surface of the skin and it was white,it was like little dots all over my face.I used all the creams you could imagine but none of them worked,or would work for a few days and the pimples would come back again. I went to this dermatologist and he said that what could be causing my acne is the hormones balance, (if you have too much feminine or masculine hormones it can cause acne)so he said i could try to take birth control pill to balance my hormones. and so i started. In the first month my acne got worse,but i still kept taking Yasmin(birth control pill), on the third month i started noticing that my skin was clearing from all those pimples.I have been taking it for more than 6 months now and i have no acne! sometimes one or two comes out but it goes away in 2 days.So Yasmin worked for me and could work for you too! |

Although the pluses were slight weight loss. When I moved back to the US I went back to Ortho Tri Cyclen because I did not like the moodiness. Both drugs have done wonders for my skin. |

| Side effects: | | extreme hunger. weight gain. severe emotional side effects that not only affected my life negatively but made me want to end it. i experienced severe depression, anxiety, anger and rage. i lacked any sex drive whatsoever. constant fighting and feelings of guilt, remorse and worthlessness. ruined relationships tremendously and i couldnt do anything to stop my behavoir except stop taking the birth control. it was the worst thing i have ever experienced in my entire life. my life is not that bad-i had no reason to feel the ways i did during use of this birth control. i literally thought i was going crazy..and i still feel terrible til this day about the ruined relationships. |
| Comments: | | i recommend using this birth control with caution although everyones body responds differently to all medications. if you begin to notice negative emotions (even slightly) i recommend you stop using it IMMEDIATELY--because it only gets worse. since i have stopped taking it (4-5 months ago) i have slowly regained the things i had lost..including my boyfriend. just be careful |

| Benefits: | | Yasmin is an excellent birth control pill. Not only does it prevent pregnancy, but it decreases bloating, irritability, and monthly blood lost. There is decreased break through bleeding and cramps as well. It just became available in a generic, so bringing the cost much lower. |

| Comments: | | Lost interest in sex rapidly, if I was ever aroused (very rare) I couldn't achieve an orgasm, every part of my body seemed to dry out and subsequently age a bit and in the case of my eyes this drying and ageing process was pretty severe. Doctors were baffled as to why I'd ended up with such dry eyes at such a young age, said they weren't sure what caused it but said it normally happens to menopausal or elderly women (I was 20-21 at the time). Now looking back I realise that the dry eyes match with a lot of the other symptoms I was experiencing at the time, many of which are normally symptoms of the menopause/ageing. Considering these symptoms have now either completely disappeared or improved since stopping the use of hormonal birth control methods (I now use the copper IUD), I believe they may well have been linked Yasmin. Yasmin is one scary pill- I came off it worried that I was prematurely going through the menopause and that I would never be able to enjoy painless, bloodless, pleasurable sex again. |

| Side effects: | | I gained 10 lbs in just a couple months, I had period munchies all the time, and could always eat. I felt uncomfortable turning down food and seemed to have a never-ending appetite. This would subside during the sugar pill week.
I suspect, but am not sure, that Yasmin also gave me some vaginal dryness. I had frequent painful sex, would get raw very easily, and actually got a tear inside my vagina from sex. If we went at it twice a day it seemed I would need a day or two break just to recover. (None of this has happened before, so the doctor suggested I move to a lower dose pill.) |
