| Comments: | | Upon having irregular periods, my doctor prescribed the pill to regulate them. Upon taking the pill for a month, I found that my periods did become regular. In addition, the pill has so far prevented unwanted pregnancy. The only side affects I found were slight weight gain. However, this is easy to overcome with excercize. Therefore, I feel the benefits outweigh the side-effects of taking this medication. |

| Side effects: | | Weight gain... I gained 10-15 pounds while on the pill and because I'm only 4'10, that 10-15 pounds REALLY SHOWS. I've tried other oral contraceptives for my heavy menstrual bleeding and all of them do the same thing... they don't help regulate my menstrual bleeding but they do make me gain weight. In the future, when I need to use a method of birth control, I will not be using oral contraceptives... EVER! |

However, during the placebo pills, my period always came. I spoke with my pharmacist and she said if I have such side effects with this lower dosage I might get more severe effects with the higher dose. I am still taking this hoping to ride out the side effects as the severity seems to lessen over time. |

| Benefits: | | the medicine was for contraceptive purposes, which it achieved. The medicine also regulated the periods and made them on a more regular basis. It also cleared my skin and helped with acne. |
| Side effects: | | The only side effects included breast tendiness and a slight headache during the first 2-3 days of the period. After stopping taking the contraceptive, headaches stopped, too. |

| Comments: | | I've been taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for about 8 years now. I'm (21) I began taking BC when I was 14 because I was having irregular periods and was diagnosed with possible PCOS ( Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) Pros:The BC hasn't altered my appetite or weight...I have never suffered from severe acne but noticed that my skin appeared clearer while taking the pills... predictable periods...no cramps or bloating...Cons: the only negative side effect I noticed was that I was moodier then usual. Ortho Tri-Cyceln Lo has worked well for me...everyone is different so I can't say how it will work for everyone else. I hope this was helpful. My doctor recommended Yasmin but I'm scared to try it because of all of the negative reviews it has received! |
