| Benefits: | | Seemed to quiet the disease down especially during the first year. Colonoscopy showed most of the colon healed after that time. Fistulas no longer occurred and stayed healed and erythema on legs did not recur once I started taking this. |
| Side effects: | | Despite most of colon and rectal area healing, my sigmoid colon developed a bad stricture which may require surgery to remove. Was very disappointed that healing did not seem to be complete and now I may have to have surgery. Only side effects from taking the medication I noticed was a very high susceptibility to colds and other easily spread illness. Also length and severity of colds much worse than when not on it. |
| Comments: | | TNF blocker. |

| Side effects: | | I had a rash from the 2nd shot but it went away and has not come back. |
| Comments: | | This medicine is given subcutaneously by a sho every 1-2weeks. I take it in combination with arava. I almost never take prednisone anymore and only take celebrex one time a day instead of two. |

| Benefits: | | I was initially placed on this medication several years ago for RA when Vioxx was pulled. I religiously self administered the medication for two years and then decided to quit because I didn't believe that it was helping much. I took a "holiday" for 16 months and then checked in with my rheumatologist. She suggested that I restart the medicine based upon x-rays and blood work. I have been on it again for 3mos...I feel better...less pain..more energy. |
| Side effects: | | I have not experienced any side effects. |
| Comments: | | I am fortunate that I have good insurance coverage because it is very expensive. As with any medicine...I am concerned about possible long term side effects. However...my grandmother had RA and was severely crippled with the disease. This medication is supposed to prevent joint destruction...I am hoping that it will. |
