| Benefits: | | Modest decrease in acne related skin conditions. Not dramatic, but since can be used as an oral contraceptive, it is easily combined into a medication that performs two funtcions. |
| Side effects: | | No noticeable side-effects. However, it is rated as having elevated risks beyond more traditional contraceptives and therefore should not be taken unless intended for the combined treatment of acne. |

| Benefits: | | I don't think it was actually beneficial for me. I suppose it would have prevented pregnancy but I was not sexually active with men during the time I took it except at the end, and we always use a barrier. My moderate acne became low grade over time, but it never fully disappeared until I started using simple OTC products. Perhaps it had something to do with my very minimal body hair (basically invisible with nothing under the arms!)but my family isn't very furry anyway. When I switched to another pill, my skin actually improved almost instantly. Prior to using this, my periods were incredibly painful and heavy but Diane helped significantly with that. |
| Side effects: | | I believe it contributed to my steady drop in libido over the years to the point where I had none at all. I worry that this will remain an issue for a long time-that it killed my sex drive for good. The last time I can remember feeling genuinely "horny" was before I started this, and it was rather intense at that time. I think it may also have played a part in my chronic depression. After switching pills, I think my hair growing faster and stronger. |
| Comments: | | I never had severe acne or excess hair, and I think the reason Diane never seemed to work was that it just wasn't geared towards my problems. Which was really just average teenage acne. I switched to Yasmin a while back and my skin has never looked better. I'm sure this is very helpful to women with severe acne, but I didn't need it. Overkill, a bit. |
