| Benefits: | | reduced inflammation, swelling and pain on the in-side of left knee area |
| Side effects: | | Headache, dull pain around side of head and to the rear. Numbing to one half of right arm from elbow to finger tips. did not affect thumb or digit next to, just the other three fingers. |
| Comments: | | My doctor prescribed celebrex to treat an injury i sustained while playing tennis. i damaged soft tissue ligaments/muscle tissue to the in-side of the knee, which became heavily swollen, painful and inflamed.
I was prescribed this drug as I am allergic to Ibuprofen based pain killers.
Initially I experienced slight tingling and intermittent dull ache to areas around the side, uppersides and rear of the cranium.
It felt like pulsing which lasted about 2 seconds before fading away. and continued the cycle ranging from 1 minute to 20 minutes in duration at different times of the day. this occured a day into starting treatment.
This gradually faded away within a week but came back weeks after stopping treatment. eventually subsided after a month or so.

| Comments: | | After two weeks of taking Celebrex I was able to walk easier but I feel the progress was due to staying off the leg and keeping it elevated. Celebrex did absolutely nothing for the intense pain. When the prescription ran out I started taking 800mg ibuprofen (prescription) every 6 hrs and within 4 days I was walking normally. |

| Benefits: | | the benefits of taking Celebrex have been to reduce the inflamation caused by arthritis and degenerative arthritis. I have noticed releif from the soreness and stiffness that comes with this problem. Other than that I don't know what else I can tell you about this drug. Since there are fewer drugs available for this problem that are effective it has also been shown to be safe. |
| Side effects: | | The only side effects of takibg this drug are some stomach irritation. I have found that if I take it with food it helps. The manufacturers of this drug claim that there are no side effects involving the stomach but I would disagree with this claim. |
| Comments: | | I have been taking Celebrex for over 5 years. As it is an expensive drug I probably would not be taking it unless it werew provided free by my doctor. I notice that I feel much better when I have been taking it for a few days but because of the side effect of stomach irritation I usually have to stop taking it for a few days to let me stomach return to normal.
Hope this helps your survey. |

| Benefits: | | I have already given this information.xxxxxx The term arthritis means “joint inflammation.” Some people refer to arthritis as “joint pain.” There are more than 100 different types of arthritis. The 2 most common forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). |
| Side effects: | | I have already given this information.xxxxxxxx Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis begins with the breakdown of joint cartilage, resulting in pain and stiffness. OA commonly affects the joints of the fingers, knees, hips, and spine. Other joints affected less frequently include the wrists, elbows, shoulders, and ankles. OA can also be caused by work-related repetitive injury and physical trauma. |
| Comments: | | I have already given this information.xxxxxxxx Rheumatoid arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis causes inflammation of the joint lining, called the synovium. This type of arthritis can cause pain, stiffness, swelling, warmth, and redness. The affected joint may also lose its shape, resulting in loss of normal movement. RA can affect other parts of the body as well, including the blood, the lungs, and the heart. Rheumatoid Arthritis is 2 to 3 times more common in women than in men, and generally affects people between the ages of 20 and 50. However, young children can develop a form of RA called juvenile RA. |

| Side effects: | | None yet that I have noticed. |
| Comments: | | I have had severe pain in my joints, of the knee, back wrist and fingers, for about 10 years. I've had problems finding something to handle the pain aspirn and other such pills had little or no effect on the pain. I took vioxx until it was taken off the market, then tried a few others prescribed by my Doctor, none of those worked until celebrex. I'm sure there are side effects maybe long term however up to this point I haven't had any short term effects I'm aware of. If I don't take my pill in the morning I can always tell by afternoon and know I forgot to take it, the aches and pain becomes terrible.

| Comments: | | Started taking right after surgery. I had to subsequent surgeries during the following 5 months. Was taking in conjunction with narcotics right after surgery and for a week or so, then only the Celebrex. After about one year, it was reduced down to once a day. I noticed if I didn't take the medication my shoulder would consistantly ache at about a 3-4 out of 10 pain scale. With the medication, I would rate the pain as 0-1, not really noticeable, but still there. |

| Benefits: | | I am an athlete, tennis pro and avid golfer. I experienced inflammation and swelling post knee surgery (tibia plateau fracture). Walking an 18 hole golf course can be painful for me, even after a year post surgery, I was in search of pain relief to continue playing a sport I love. Celebrex reduced my inflammation and stiffness and allowed me to play pain free. |
| Side effects: | | So far I have experienced no side effects. I have had no bad or serious reactions. I have not had any intestinal pains, diarhhea or nausea that I have heard are common side effects that are associated with taking this drug. I have not even had an upset stomach. |
| Comments: | | I have been taking Celebrex now for over five months. I am very pleased with the drug it has helped to relieve my stiffness and pain with no bad side effects. I was concerned about taking this drug on a daily basis or extended term but my experience with no side effects has lowered my concern. I will continue to take it as I do see a difference when I don't, my knee is more stiff and difficult to walk at times. I have tried naproxen but for me celebrex works better.

| Benefits: | | I did not experience any benefits after one week of usage. I chose to discontinue the treatment. |
| Side effects: | | Some mild stomach irritation. |
| Comments: | | The knee pain became progressively more severe over the course of 2-3 months. My family doctor sent me to physical therapist who stress tested the knee, and the physical therapist determined that I should see the specialist. A consultation with an orthopedic doctor was scheduled with an MRI performed. The MRI showed some swelling in the knee joint ligaments under the front of the knee cap. No tears or spurs were visible, thus the diagnosis was possible early stage of arthritis and/or minor injury. I felt the arthritis was not completely impossible but more likely that some possible injury was probable owing to my daily work activity but no exact injury could be documented. After the week of celebrex usage, without any noticable relief, I chose to discontinue the medication route in favor of some time off (2 weeks) with ice-pack heat-pad therapy to reduce swelling and pain. Next I self applied sparingly over time some physical therapy at the local gym, to strengthen any possible sprain-injury situation that may have occurred. To date my knees have been relatively trouble free when i adhere to age appropriate work and leisure pursuits (reducing strenuous projects as i get older). My construction business is slowest in late fall and winter, during which i continue my physical activity at a local gym. Thus avoiding future injuries. |

| Dosage & duration: | | 100 mg and 200 mg taken 100 mg at bedtime 200 mg at breakfast for the period of several years - still taking it |
| Other conditions: | | hyperlipidemia, high blood pressure |

| Benefits: | | I started out with 100 mg twice a day and after about 3 years I've had to increase dosage to 200 mg in the morning and 100 mg at bedtime. It seems to keep my arthritis fairly under control but I have never been able to just take it once a day but I've also had arthritus for 35+ years. Unfortunatelt cold fronts and weather changes still bother my joints. This mediicine keeps me active and pretty much able to do most of what I want to do. |
| Side effects: | | I haven't really had any noticeable side effects. |
| Comments: | | See above. I am concerned thaqt the dosage might have to be upped after a few more years. |
