Gabapentin is the active ingredient in gabapentin, i.e. it is a common name of single substance. The chemical nomenclature name of gabapentin is 2-[1-(aminomethyl)cyclohexyl]acetic acid. The most common brand under which gabapentin is sold is Neurontin.
