Xifaxan is an antibiotic that is only minimally absorbed by the gut. From general standpoint, alcohol does not seem likely to interfere with its effectiveness -- even though I am not sure this has even been studied.
That said, the list of possible side effects of xifaxan includes dizziness or lightheadedness, which can be made worse by alcohol.
