Doxepin and sublingual progesterone

I have been on doxepin 10 mg for about ten yrs for fibrmyalgia.  Two yrs ago I tried bio identical hormones in luau of Premarin .09 mg.  I was switched to sublingual hormones as I could take half dose in AM and PM.  I have tried to get off the doxepin many times because while on progesterone I noticed pain gone.  Taking doxepin at bedtime hormones has felt like doxepin increases the effectiveness and I feel drugged.  Are there drug interactions with these two drugs?  Also how can I get off doxepin? I want to stay on bio identical hormones.  Still trying to find the correct dosage.  Now trying vivelle dot.  Hair falling out.

Thanks,
Marie

I am not aware of any well documented/researched interactions between doxepin and progesterone. However, doxepin is a CNS active drug whereas progesterone is steroid with multiple effects including CNS effects. It is conceivable that they might interact in some cases.

You should discuss with your doctor the possibility of adjusting your doxepin dose in the light of possible interaction with progesterone or perhaps even just a possible change in the course of our fibromyalgia.
