Vaprisol® (conivaptan hydrochloride injection)
Description
VAPRISOL® (conivaptan hydrochloride injection) is a nonpeptide, dual antagonist of arginine vasopressin (AVP) V1A and V2 receptors.
Conivaptan hydrochloride is chemically [1,1’-biphenyl]-2-carboxamide, N -[4-[(4,5-dihydro-2-methylimidazo[4,5- d ][1]benzazepin-6(1 H)-yl)carbonyl]phenyl]-, monohydrochloride having a molecular weight of 535.04 and molecular formula C32H26N4O2•HCl . Conivaptan hydrochloride is a white to off-white or pale orange-white powder that is very slightly soluble in water (0.15 mg/mL at 23° C). Conivaptan hydrochloride injection is supplied as a sterile liquid in an ampule. Each ampule will deliver 20 mg conivaptan hydrochloride, 1.2 g propylene glycol, 0.4 g ethanol and Water for Injection, q.s. Lactic acid is added for pH adjustment to 3.0.
