Fiorinal review by 37 year old female patient

  Rating
Overall rating:
Effectiveness:   Considerably Effective
Side effects:   Mild Side Effects

Treatment Info
Condition / reason:   migraines
Dosage & duration:   1/2 grain capsules taken about once every two months for the period of for approx. 5 years
Other conditions:   N/A
Other drugs taken:   Birth control - Marvelon or Triphasil 21

Reported Results
Benefits:   Fiorinal almost always gets rid of my migraine headaches.
Side effects:   Occasional drowsiness, though this is preferred as I usually need to lie down in a dark place when I have a migraine.
Comments:   I'd typically take one Fiorinal capsule at the onset of a migraine headache, with water and sometimes salted crackers. (If I didn't catch it at the onset, the capsule generally had no effect). I would then lie down in a quiet, dark room. The pill would typically reduce the headache within 30-45 minutes. Occasionally I would end up feeling sluggish afterwards - not sure if this was a result of the medication or the headache. Regardless, it has worked well to reduce headache pain.
