FIORINAL SUMMARY

Each Fiorinal^® (butalbital, aspirin, and caffeine) Capsule for oral administration contains: butalbital, USP, 50 mg; aspirin, USP, 325 mg; caffeine, USP, 40 mg.

Fiorinal^® (butalbital, aspirin, and caffeine) is indicated for the relief of the symptom complex of tension (or muscle contraction) headache. Evidence supporting the efficacy and safety of Fiorinal^® (butalbital, aspirin, and caffeine) in the treatment of multiple recurrent headaches is unavailable. Caution in this regard is required because butalbital is habit-forming and potentially abusable.

Benefits:		relieved headache 99% of time, headaches did not recur for at least 18 hours
Side effects:		occasional heartburn - treated with Pepcid Complete
Comments:		at earliest onset of migraine symptoms - throbbing pain in temple, sensitivity to noise or light, extreme irritiability- pain behind or around eye area - I would take one tablet with tea or water. Usually would subside within 10 - 20 minutes.

Benefits:		It assisted the ibuprofen and cortizone in pain relief.
Side effects:		I had no side effects.
Comments:		I have severe tension headaches on a every other day basis. Occasional swelling in the top of neck. if ibuprofen didnt do the job, fiorinal usually topped it off. but this medicine alone didnt do much for me. I was prescribed 1 to 2 pills every 6 hours when headaches occurs.
