Published Studies Related to Cialis (Tadalafil)
Randomized Placebo-Controlled Crossover Trial of Tadalafil in Raynaud's Phenomenon Secondary to Systemic Sclerosis. [2009.10] OBJECTIVE: Raynaud's phenomenon (RP) is an important clinical feature of systemic sclerosis (SSc) for which consistently effective therapies are lacking. The study was designed to assess the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of tadalafil, a selective, long acting type V cyclic GMP phosphodiesterase (PDE-5) inhibitor, in this clinical syndrome... CONCLUSION: Tadalafil appears to be safe and well tolerated but lacks efficacy in comparison to placebo as a treatment for RP secondary to SSc.
[Chronic PDE-5 inhibition in patients with erectile dysfunction : New treatment approach using once daily Tadalafil.] [2009.09.09] Erectile dysfunction (ED) is often associated with increased cardiovascular risk. There is increasing evidence suggesting that dysfunction of the vascular endothelium with reduced bioavailability of nitric oxide (NO) may be the pathogenetic link between ED and cardiovascular disease... Interestingly in a pilot study of on-demand versus chronic administration of Tadalafil for 4 weeks, only regular dosing improved several markers of endothelial function.
Dexamethasone but not tadalafil improves exercise capacity in adults prone to high-altitude pulmonary edema. [2009.08.15] RATIONALE: Whether pulmonary hypertension at high altitude limits exercise capacity remains uncertain. OBJECTIVES: To gain further insight into the pathophysiology of hypoxia induced pulmonary hypertension and the resulting reduction in exercise capacity, we investigated if the reduction in hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstrictive response with corticosteroids or phosphodiesterase-5 inhibition improves exercise capacity... CONCLUSIONS: Corticosteroids, but not phosphodiesterase-5 inhibition, partially prevented the limitation of exercise capacity in subjects with intense hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction at high altitude.

[2009.05] CONCLUSIONS: Tadalafil 5 mg once daily significantly improved EF and sexual quality of life for men with ED. In addition, the sexual quality of life of the female partners of the men treated with tadalafil was significantly improved.
