Interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome is a chronic disease characterized by pain, frequency, urgency, and nocturia and diagnosed primarily in women. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that urologic nurses are central to its management, providing sensitive counseling and education as well as therapy.
