Administration of bupropion is the most effective and safe non-nicotine therapy of tobacco dependence. It doubles the success rate, similarly as nicotine replacement therapy. In heavy dependent smokers combination of both mentioned therapies is recommended. From other antidepressant drugs, nortripyline is effective, and then clonidine and mecamylamine. But their effect is restricted.
