Migraine is like any other chronic illness. Patients require education, reassurance, and support from their healthcare providers. An accurate history is imperative to successful treatment. Maintaining a detailed headache diary is important for the patient as well as the healthcare provider to help sort out triggers and possible errors in how patients take their medications. Choosing the most appropriate abortive agent and, if needed, preventive treatment leads to successful migraine management.
