THE AIM OF OUR STUDY: was to assess the effect of PGE1 infusion on cardiovascular system in patients undergoing reconstructive operation because of abdominal aortic aneurysm. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study group consisted of 54 patients divided into control group and examined group. Patients of the examined group were additionally receiving PGE1 (Prostavasin) in continous intravenous infusion in dose 0.02 mg/kg b.m./min. During surgical procedure the cardiovascular system was being monitored by the measurement the heart rate, systolic pressure and central venous pressure. The parameters were measured twice: at the begining of the operation and after anastomosis. RESULTS: We have noticed that the heart rate and systolic pressure were significantly lower in patients from the examined group. CONCLUSION: Thus it seems that administration of PGE1 during prosthetic restoration can favorably influence general condition of patients and diminish the perioperative risk.
