Mometasone furoate and formoterol fumarate dihydrate (MF/F) administered via metered-dose inhaler with a dose counter is a new fixed-dose combination of an inhaled corticosteroid and a long-acting ?2-agonist indicated for daily maintenance therapy in patients aged ?12 years with persistent asthma. Randomized, controlled trials have suggested that MF/F reduces asthma deteriorations while improving lung function and other measures of asthma control, including quality-of-life. Clinical safety studies lasting up to 1 year have found that MF/F has a low incidence of local and systemic side effects.
